Game title: My Little Scythe: Pie in the Sky

Game description: Pie in the Sky begins on the eve of the 3000th Harvest Tournament, where stories are retold of Pomme’s ancient animals venturing into distant lands to establish their own kingdoms. To accomplish this, Pomme’s founders worked together to build the legendary Airship Kai, imbuing it with the best knowledge from all nine animal species. Sharing the ship’s powers and speed, each kingdom established its foundations. But one year, the airship and its Fox and Owl passengers journeyed into the far frontiers and were never seen or heard from again … until now. As animals gather for the milestone tournament, the fabled lost airship emerges from the horizon, carrying Seekers from the Fox and Owl kingdoms. As if this reunion isn’t reason enough for celebration, Pomme’s Seekers realize that Airship Kai still responds to each animal species. The stage is set for the greatest Harvest Tournament in 3000 years!

It’s time to take to the skies with some new friends in My Little Scythe’s 1st-ever expansion, Pie in the Sky! This expansion adds two new Seeker pairs to the game, the Fox and Owl, as well as the Airship Kai. The airship is a community controller piece that can help Seekers carry Apples and Gems and deliver them safely to the castle. There are also variable Airship powers to each player, new Quests, and an upgrade to the Seek action that let’s player take control of the Kai.

Along with these new updates comes the necessity of earning a 5th trophy to win the game. Additional trophy tokens are including for each of the Seeker pairs in the base box, as well as full sets for the Fox and Owl. 9 player mats are used for each player to have a unique airship power, as well as to be a cargo hold for the items the Airship carries for them. This keeps it clear whose items are whose since each player can move the Airship during their seek action.

The Airship can move around the board and pick up items that aren’t controller by a Seeker.

Pie in the Sky adds just enough to the base game without being overly complicated or adding any time to the length of the game. The rules are clear and concise, and the pieces are amazing, just as the ones in the base game are. The best part? The tray for the base game already has spaces for everything in the expansion…except the Airship. Thankfully Stonemaier has an image showing you best how to store it (though they show TWO Airships, the expansion only has one.)

For $20, Pie in the Sky certainly adds enough excitement to My Little Scythe that it’s a must-have for owners of the game. Kids and adults alike will get a kick out of the Airship and who doesn’t want more cute animal miniatures? It takes an already game game and makes it even better, which is all that can asked for in a game expansion.
