This week, Variety reported that DreamWorks Animation is in final negotiations for the movie rights to Jerry Hawthorne’s board game “Mice and Mystics.” Often negotiations like this break down . . . Dune comes to mind. However, if it manages to cross the finish line into production, this could be a strong play in bringing mainstream attention to the gaming industry. Mice and Mystics is a cooperative adventure game in which the players work together to save an imperiled kingdom. Mice and Mystics has gained in popularity and now enjoys a collection of expansions. I have high hopes for this. But, we will just have to wait and see.
